ELLI – The Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory
In the Summer of 2013, through our transition project, the children were introduced to our ELLI Lifelong Learning Skills. ELLI is a directory of key skills that we believe all of our children can develop in order to help them to be confident, highly skilled learners ready for the challenges of 21st century life.
The seven skills are each represented by an animal, they are:
The Curious Cat – Finding out, exploring and asking questions
The Busy Bee – Working together
The Creative Unicorn – Being imaginative, finding creative solutions
The Wise Owl – Thinking strategically
The Meaning Making Spider – Making Links with prior learning
The Changing Chameleon – Changing and adapting an approach to learning to improve
The Resilient Tortoise – Persevering no matter how hard things seem.
Each term, the children will be focusing on the different learning skills in assemblies and within lessons, learning how to develop these skills within the wider curriculum.
