At Elm Park Primary School we are blessed with a fantastic outside space for the children to learn and play. Over the past few years the PTA have funded an array of equipment and we now have climbing walls and a selection of play apparatus to stimulate fun and physical development for children of all ages in the school. Recently we added a mound with tunnels and nets on the school field, which is affectionately known as ‘Mullins’ Mound’ after the teacher who managed OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) at the school for several years.
Our pond and courtyard are well used by the children. Pond dipping is a common sight and the children enjoy accessing this area with their buddies – armed with dipping nets and bags of enthusiasm. The courtyard is a central area of the school and the children like to spend time here (as do our various nesting birds – blackbirds, robins and pigeons!); it is a great place to relax with friends over lunch.
At the Summer Fayre there is a GoKart Challenge run by one of the parents. Its aimed at getting children and parents working together in a fun team orientated challenge. Click here to find out more, GoKart Challenge 2015.
